Title IX Grievance & Investigation Process
1. Immediate Supportive Measures
Upon receiving a report, Title IX coordinators immediately offer non-disciplinary, non-punitive supportive measures to Complainants, including academic adjustments, dorm relocation, and counseling referrals.
2. Formal Complaint & Investigation
A formal complaint triggers written notice to both parties and an objective, impartial investigation led by trained investigators.
3. Preponderance of the Evidence Standard
ACC adjudicates formal complaints utilizing the preponderance of the evidence standard (whether it is more likely than not that the misconduct occurred).
4. Written Determination & 7-Day Appeal
Independent decision-makers issue simultaneous written determinations with findings of fact and rationale. Both parties have equal rights to appeal within seven (7) business days.
